Beauty.  Comfort.

Jyl Graves’ goal is simple.  She wants to surround her clients with their favorite things.  Regardless of their style preference, she partners with them to create beautiful and functional interiors to last, she says, “because a home should reflect a design that allows others to feel your style the moment they enter your door.”

Her clients find it easy to work with her because her philosophy is one of collaboration – helping to make their vision come to life, while adding her signature touch of warmth. They can relate to her design sense, which incorporates inviting natural materials with a touch of the unexpected.

Graves began her interior design career in Albany, NY, and went on to develop interiors divisions in two architectural firms in Simsbury, Connecticut and Wayzata, Minnesota, working on mostly commercial projects such as office space and hospitality. During a relocation to Georgia, she started to concentrate on high end residential projects, and she returned to Minnesota in 2006 to established her own design firm, Jyl Graves Interiors. As a Certified Interior Designer, she is continually keeping current with new products, trends and resources. Her 25 years of design and life experience has taught her that a home is more than square footage and materials.  Living with beauty is something everyone can have with thoughtful attention to details, color and texture.

Graves begins a project by conducting detailed interviews with her clients to assess their functional and big dream ideas.  This is often accomplished using magazine tearsheets, Houzz.com photos and a virtual walk-through of their building plans. Whether the project is new construction or the renovation of an existing home, through her interaction with the architect, builder and client, Graves coordinates all the pieces to keep projects cohesive and moving toward completion.  Her prior commercial experience has given her the advantage of being able to create documentation of floor plans, decisions, selections and responsibilities.

As a resident of Wayzata and Sylvan Lake, her design aesthetic has been influenced and inspired by both the excitement and luxury of the Twin Cities and an appreciation for the nature of “up north” and the serenity it can bring.
